Australia’s premier state starts as one begins their travel south along Sydney which passes through a wonderful coastline or through the Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands to Canberra. The beaches are almost untouched. The wilderness has a spectacular view. The national park, the mountains and rivers, the rural life and the big blue skies can be thoroughly enjoyed. There is easy access available to the alpine wilderness, snowfields and the modern capital city.
The south is considered a major holiday destination. There are two main governments operating locally in the region. One is the Eurobodalla Shire in the south and the Shoalhaven Muncipality in the north. When travelling from Sydney by car you can go to any part of the south coast or even get to Melbourne. Traffic tends to be slow in south of Wollongong and Kiama, especially if it the time of school holidays. When coming from Canberra you can take the Princess Highway.
Train is another option. A Cityrail can be taken from Sydney Central platform or even at Sutherland and Hurstville. The bus also takes the Princess Highway route but stops in some of the big towns. An easier option is to simply drive.
There are many adventures to participate in, such as canoeing in Kangaroo Valley, the dolphin cruise in Jervis Bay, Mogo Zoo, Minamurra Rainforest, Jambaroo Recreation Park and visiting art galleries in Berry.
