Far south coast track

Planning has begun for an 80km walking track that will showcase the beauty of the New South Wales far south coast.

A committee has been formed to develop a master plan for the trail that will stretch from Tathra to Eden.

The six-day walk is expected to be a key feature of Tourism Australia's Master Plan to be released soon.

The committee's chairman Graeme Wykes says it is an exciting project that will drive tourism.

"If you've got an iconic trail that you can then promote to tourists, people are going to come," he said.

There's an opportunity to develop kayaking side trips and guided walks and interpretive trails and also to enhance the value of the say the Jigamy Aboriginal development.

"We believe there're a lot of economic benefits."
