Yarrawa Hill is an extraordinary house: striking, modern architecture is combined with relaxed comfort, soft leather couches, antique Indonesian furniture, log-fires and sunny decks. Set in 156 unspoiled acres of rainforest and huge eucalypts, it overlooks the Pacific Ocean and lies between two National Parks, but is only 30 mins from Kiama beach, 90 mins from central Sydney, 60 mins from Sydney airport and 120 mins from Canberra.
This large contemporary architect designed home comprises two sunny north-facing pavilions perched high on steel poles. Parking is right by the front door at ground level An absence of stairs and the convenient walk-in showers make two of Yarrawa Hill's three suites handicapped-accessible.
• Mobile reception is possible at the house so bring your wireless internet device (dongle) to access your email or internet. There is no internet service provided by this house.
• The West Pavilion: Park in the double car port and enter Yarrawa Hill through the large carved antique double wooden doors. Now you are in the gallery which connects the living and sleeping pavilions. To your left is the Great Room.
• The forty foot long Great Room, with its dramatic, vaulted steel ceiling, double-glazed glass walls on three sides maximizing the sea and bush views and huge fireplace (logs provided) is superb for entertaining in winter or summer. This is the main living and dining area and includes a state-of-the-art kitchen with stainless steel counters, breakfast bar, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and walk-in pantry. The kitchen is fully stocked with equipment, crockery, glassware etc.
• Sliding glass doors open from the Great Room onto a spacious deck with outdoor dining table, large gas BBQ and views across to the Pacific Ocean.
• A cloakroom & WC plus a large laundry/mud room, with washing-machine and separate dryer, complete the West Pavilion.
• The East Pavilion: 3 Queen bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, sitting room, kitchenette and private deck. These ensure full privacy for three couples.
• Heating: There is central heating throughout, a wood-burning stove and open fire for warmth.
• At the rear of the property is a large sun drenched paved patio with another wood-burning barbecue.
