This totally self-contained, private home is a solid, spacious and very individual 2 bedroom timber and stone cottage just 2km from the village in the heart of Kangaroo Valley and a little over 2 hours from Sydney or Canberra - it is an ideal base to explore areas of outstanding natural beauty between the south coast and the Southern Highlands of NSW.
Kangaroo Valley is close to several national parks and beaches with great bush walking and nature experiences on your doorstep.
Children are welcome but sorry, no pets.
Little Pig Creek is run with the health of the guests, wildlife and the environment in mind. Rainwater is on tap and recycling and composting are practiced. Only environmentally safe cleaners are used.
The Home:
Little Pig creek was built and used as a home for many years and provides everything needed for maximum comfort.
The eclectic decor is influenced by textiles and objects collected throughout Asia and beyond. The house is furnished with restored and recycled pieces which are full of history.
The 4" thick hardwood walls enclose an open plan living and kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a gas stove and fridge/freezer. Tea and coffee essentials are provided.
The living space has two seating areas, TV, DVD, CD and IPod connection. The dining table seats 6.
There are 2 generous bedrooms, each containing a double bed and old oak furniture.
The large bathroom houses a free-standing bath with shower, basin, toilet, bidet and laundry facilities.
Snug in a sandstone corner of the living room is a wood burning heater. There is also a gas heater for chilly mornings in the breakfast area. A central ceiling fan provides summer cooling.
French doors open onto a large sail covered deck overlooking the private garden. There is a rustic BBQ over a fireplace. Large picture windows take in the view from inside.
The Area:
Kangaroo Valley is a spectacular place, totally enclosed by high cliffs. The wide green floor is home to dairy farms, historic buildings and private retreats.
The forested slopes of the valley lead down to the Kangaroo River, crossed near the village by Hampden Bridge, a castellated, sandstone bridge.
The village has most of the usual facilities including some good cafes, restaurants, shops, galleries and a pub. Outside the village, nature supplies the entertainment with short or long walking tracks, a canoeable river and great scenery.
Seven Mile Beach National Park is only half an hour away by car via Berry and the marine park of Jervis Bay/Booderee National Park is only 45 minutes drive through Nowra.
